Last week was our first time at The Tech and it was surprising to see how quickly kids get engrossed in most of the hands-on projects there. The museum was not terribly crowded and San Jose downtown looked fresh and appealing :) bringing back nostalgic memories of student days there.
Its a great place to see everything in one day and spend time on the projects that interest you most- the IMAX show 'Flight of the butterflies' was spectacular and how cool is it to grow Jelly fish DNA in the wet labs!

The Exploratorium in its new house is stunning but then I'm always partial to SFO- getting off BART and walking towards Embarcadero - the sights , sounds, smells- everything is so uplifting!!! I love this beautiful city and its one of my summer projects to explore more of this city with my boys- China Town, Little Italy, Japan town!
But I digress- the Exploratorium is not something you can cover in one day- its huge and crowded and quite overwhelming, I think we tried to cram in too much in a day. Don't get me wrong, they've added new exhibits and displays, the space is cavernous and the old displays are still appealing but battling the throngs of youngsters to get up close to most of these exhibits is not my cuppa tea! Though I suspect the crowds had a lot a to do with the fact that the Exploratorium had just opened up in its new digs @ Pier 15, some spectacular bay and city skyline views here.

But the day was not wasted- in the company of dear friends, grabbing a lunch at the Ferry building, listening to the sea gulls and marveling at the SFO skyline and the Bay bridge- bliss!!
